The Hong Kong Psychological Counselling Center is a private institution offering comprehensive psychiatric and psychological counselling services in Hong Kong. Arrangement for individual and family counselling can be made within 7 days and all information collected will be kept confidential.
 

Our Feature

Our Mission

It is inevitable that we will face emotional issues, stresses and anxiety, or marital, parenting and family problems in our daily life. Some of us would want to seek professional assistance when dealing with these issues. However, it is not that easy to get professional counselling services in Hong Kong. It is either very expensive or you will have to wait for a long time. In view of the above, our Center adopts a flexible fee schedule aiming at allowing our potential clients to receive professional assistance at an affordable price as soon as possible (within 7 days).
 
Since our establishment, our Center has become very popular. Attracted by our mission, the number of people using our services continues to increase. Currently, we have a professional team including Psychiatrist, experienced counsellors, clinical psychologists and art therapist. We will continue to expand our services so as to meet the different needs of our potential clients and ensure that professional counselling services will be available within 7 days.

Dr. Wilfred Wong

Founder and Senior Counsellor

Dr. Wong is the founder and executive director of the Hong Kong Psychological Counselling Center. He is also an experienced psychological counsellor. Through offering counselling services, Dr. Wong intends to become the client's company and help him/her to understand himself/herself and his/her surroundings better. In the course of counselling, Dr. Wong will explore with the client resources available to him/her both internally and externally and let him/her see that there are different alternatives. The ultimate aim is to help the client to become free and be able to enjoy life.
 
Dr. Wong's various professional qualifications include Honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology, California, U.S., Master's degree in Counselling from the University of South Australia, Certificate in Child-centred Play Therapy, Certificate in Play Therapy for Pre-school Children, Certificate in Fast and Intensive Treatment of Depression, Certificate in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Certificate in Marriage and Intimate Relationship Counselling and Certificate in Bowen Family Systems Therapy, etc.
 
Dr. Wong has intensive experience in counselling. In addition to providing individual and marriage counselling as a private practice counsellor, Dr. Wong was volunteer counsellor at the Breakthrough Counselling Center from 2002 to 2008. Dr. Wong was presented with the Outstanding Volunteer Counsellor award in 2005 by the organization. Dr. Wong also became volunteer counsellor at the Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention, Hong Kong in the same year. The Society aims at rehabilitating discharged prisoners and reintegrating them into society. Dr. Wong received a Commendation and an award for his outstanding participation in the Society's work in 2006. In light of Dr. Wong's excellent performance as a volunteer, he was appointed board member of The Friends Of The Society Of Rehabilitation And Crime Prevention, Hong Kong responsible for the development of volunteer work of the Society in Hong Kong. This is the first time ever a volunteer is appointed board member of the Society.

Dr. Jackie Chan

Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Chan is serving in the clinical psychologist position of our center. He is specialized in handling the issues of personal growth and marital relationship, and the treatment of depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma- and stressor-related disorders, paraphilic disorders, somatic symptoms and related disorders, dissociative disorders, and personality disorders. Dr. Chan’s clinical duties include administering psychological and forensic assessments and writing court-ordered and individualized psychological reports; providing children, teenagers, young adults, senior citizens, couples, and families with counseling, consultation, and psychotherapy services, and conducting training, seminars, workshops, and clinical research. In addition, as a qualitative researcher, Dr. Chan has several research interests, including dreamwork, symbolic and experiential learning tools, countertransference management, clinical supervision and counselor education, projective art therapeutic interventions, and psychotherapy effectiveness.

Dr. Chan adopts an eclectic theoretical orientation, including Cognitive Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Gestalt, Dialectical Behavioral, and Adlerian Family Therapy, and he was also trained in Clinical Hypnotherapy, Dream Interpretation, EMDR, and Mindfulness interventions. For more than 15 years, Dr. Chan has practiced counseling and professional psychology in many local and overseas mental health agencies. Besides practicing counseling and professional psychology, teaching and clinical supervision are also Dr. Chan’s favorite activities. Dr. Chan was an internship clinical supervisor of Hong Kong Shue Yan University’s Counselling and Psychology Department from the year 2010 to 2015, and he has also worked as a part-time counselling and psychology lecturer in several local and overseas universities, including Hong Kong Baptist University, the Open University of Hong Kong, the City University of Hong Kong, and University of Salford.

Mr. Alex K.F. Tang, RCoP (HKPS)

Alex Tang is a Hong Kong registered counseling psychologist who obtained his Master of Social Sciences in Counseling Psychology in Hong Kong Shue Yan University, Master of Social Sciences in Behavioral Health at the University of Hong Kong, and Bachelor of Psychological Sciences at the University of Queensland, Australia. He is a full member of the Division of Counseling Psychology in Hong Kong Psychological Society, a professional member of Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, and an associate member of the Hong Kong Institute of Analytical Psychology. He also completed the basic and advanced training programs of psychoanalytic psychotherapy in the China American Psychoanalytic Alliance (CAPA).

Alex specializes in psychoanalytic psychotherapy for adolescents and adults. In essence, this psychotherapy helps patients change and grow from within because inner change is long-lasting and stable. It helps them find relief from mental or emotional stress, identify the hidden roots in past to the present psychological pain, promote self-reflection and self-examination, develop a better understanding of present challenges, develop more effective and constructive coping techniques, and facilitate life transformation and personality growth.

Alex is experienced in working with patients with various mental and psychological struggles, such as personality disorders, depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorders, phobia, anxiety, insomnia, grief and loss issues, early trauma, sexual problems, couple relationship problems, and other developmental issues. Ms Ivy Fung

Ivy is a State Registered Art Therapist (UK) practicing in Hong Kong. Ivy obtained her postgraduate diploma in Art Therapy at the University of Hertfordshire in UK in 1999. Since then, she has been working in local hospitals and rehabilitation settings, with diverse clientele, including people with mental health problems and their families, drug abusers, cancer survivors and others. Ivy was the Vice President of the Hong Kong Association of Art Therapists (2002-2008), endeavoring to promote Art Therapy and Art Facilitation in the region. Ivy has also collaborated with a local university in an innovative research project of virtual image therapy, which was awarded a gold medal at the International Exhibition of Inventions, New Techniques and Products (2007) in Geneva.
 
Ivy has now focused more on working with those who suffered from mental health problems and emotional distress; She aims at supporting people to work through their difficulties and re-discover themselves by retrieving innate creativity and thus achieving a life of integrity.

Ms Hannah Chang

Miss Hannah Chang is a Senior Psychological Counselor, Doctor of Psychology (PsyD ) Candidate in Clinical Psychology in California Southern University (USA) , Master of Art in Professional Counseling in Olivet Nazarene University (USA), Master of Pastoral Counseling in Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary. Mr. William Chow

Psychological Counsellor, Art Psychotherapist

Mr. William Chow is an experienced counsellor with clinical experience for over 30 years. In the early days Mr. Chow received professional Art Therapy training at the University of London Goldsmiths’ College. Then he completed the M. Ed in the University of Edinburgh in Scotland to become a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society. Mr. Chow came back to finish the Certificate of School Counselling and Guidance at the University of Hong Kong, he counselled children, adolescents and their parents in his work. Despite being a school administrator many years later he has not stopped his counselling work. Besides handled the most difficult cases, he supervised frontline counsellors to analyze cases and formulated all-rounded counselling strategies.
 
Mr. Chow assisted government department to support children with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) with art therapy. He was also a marriage counsellor, counsellor for the people with intellectual disabilities in non-government organizations. Mr. Chow has been shouldering art therapy supervision since years ago.
 
Mr. Chow adopts art therapy as an adjunct in verbal counselling. Based on psychodynamic, his practice integrates behavior therapy and reality therapy, whenever possible, to relieve the client’s stress, enhance his/her capacities of problem-solving and of getting insights. Mr. Chow was awarded Associate Fellow granted by the Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association years ago.
 
Mr. Chow was a founder of the Hong Kong Association of Art Therapists. He has been its Treasurer and Consultant respectively. He was lecturer of Art Therapy and of Counselling in degree programmes in universities. Moreover, he held workshops and seminars in schools in Hong Kong and in the mainland China, local non-government organizations, public and private agencies. Ms. Regina Au is an experienced Registered Psychotherapist (MBACP) and Registered Art Therapist (HCPC) with over 10 years of clinical experience. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in psychodynamic art therapy, personal-centered, and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, enabling her to develop appropriate treatment plans for clients to cope with work-related stress, family issues, relationship and marital issues, childhood trauma, and various emotional difficulties such as depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, etc. She is fully committed to assisting her clients in finding solutions to their problems and achieving inner transformation.
 
Ms. Au graduated from an Art Therapy master’s program in the UK and worked for social welfare and child protection organizations. Upon returning to Hong Kong, she became the first school-based art psychotherapist in Hong Kong, where she gained extensive clinical experience assisting adolescents and their families facing various challenges such as excessive screen time, identity crises, parent-child and peer relationship issues, adaptation difficulties, bullying, and mental health issues, etc. Currently, she serves as a Guest lecturer at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Education University of Hong Kong, teaching courses on Child Development and subjects related to Psychotherapy.

Besides, she was also a project speaker of the teachers and parents workshops for The Joyful (Mental Health) Foundation. Irene is currently a registered mental health first-aid instructor of The Mental Health Association of Hong Kong. She hopes to help enhance the public’s awareness of mental health in the community. In addition to her earlier years of teaching in the School of Continuing & Professional Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, different primary and secondary schools, and other various institutions, Irene has vast experience in teaching, counseling and training serving people with different age groups and background covering children, adolescents, adults and elderly.

Irene is specifically good at assisting pre-marital and marital couples for their relationship adjustment, learning and growth covering their family of origins, communication and conflicts management, in-law relationship and so on. Overall, she has served clients with different counseling needs such as emotional counseling, relationship counseling, premarital counseling, bereavement counseling, addiction counseling and personal growth. Ms Christine Chiu

Christine was born and raised in Hong Kong. After completing her bachelor’s degree in psychology in Canada, she returned to Hong Kong and worked as a behavior therapist with a professional background in SEN children for years.

With a major in Counselling, Christine has a background in psychology at both the undergraduate and master's degree levels. She works as a psychological counsellor with years of experience in the field of clinical mental health.

Since joining HKPCC, she has gained an abundance of clinical experience with a wide variety of cases. Her areas of special interest include adolescent emotional and behavioral issues, personal growth and development, work stress, relationships, and marriage.

Christine believes that the social and personality development of childhood significantly influences the growth of the person. She hopes to help individuals enhance their self-awareness and emotional expression through counseling sessions.

Ms Judy Chan

Judy has vast experience in counselling, working in famous primary and secondary school contexts for many years. Her clients include students, parents and their families, as well as teachers and educators from different schools. She has helped students with special needs including attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, autism, dyslexia, traumatic issues, personality disorders, emotional problems like depression and anxiety, leading different types of therapeutic groups like stress reduction and delivering talks for parents, teachers and students in different school assemblies, seminars and workshops.
 
Judy focuses on helping clients’ self-esteem and set inter-personal boundaries, allowing them to be released from their stress and bondage and helping them achieve self-actualization. Dr. Jazz Lee

Psychological Counsellor

Dr. Jazz Lee has rich experience in frontline counselling. He has served fulltime in a HK Government wholly subsidized counselling center (NGO) for many years. He also worked at a sizable rehabilitation medical institution for industrial injured as a medical case manager and a rehab counsellor for years. Dr. Lee identifies himself as a keen follower of the counselling master Carl Rogers. Being a Person-centered therapist, he believes that “deep empathy” is the core of counselling. He also believes that listening with heart and unconditional acceptance are the essential building blocks of a “therapeutic relationship” which makes healing possible.

Ms Tiffany Lui

Tiffany is serving in the Counselling Psychologist position of our center. She completed her psychologist training at Hong Kong Shue Yan University after her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Sussex and a Master’s degree in Child Development at the University College London. Tiffany is experienced working with children and adults from diverse cultural and racial backgrounds, including clients with psychological and emotional issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment for developmental difficulties, relationship and marriage. Tiffany is an experienced practitioner in psychodynamic therapy and person-centred therapy.

Tiffany has published her research on mental health issues and family relationships in international journals with Sage and the National Autistic Society in the United Kingdom. During research and practice, she believes that self-awareness increases individuals’ self-understanding and self- acceptance, including their behaviours and feelings which as well improves mental health and interpersonal relationships. Ms Doris Chu

Doris graduated in Master of Social Science in Counselling at University of Hong Kong with major in Bowen Family Systems Theory. She works as a counsellor with experiences of handling clinical mental health issues, helping clients with different religion and cultural backgrounds, languages, sexual-orientations and ages to find their inner resources to cope with emotional distress. She also worked in elderly sector before, specializing in grief counselling, carer stress, interpersonal relationship etc.

Apart from work, Doris was passionate in studying life and death education, used to be a volunteer to help with patients with chronic health issues and their family to cope with emotional distress and to deliver life & death psychoeducation.

During many struggles of living, Doris believes being proactive and assertive is a choice of assisting oneself to find a way out. Counselling is a collaborative process that allows an individual the space to develop new understandings, new perspectives, and new ways of acting and being. In Counselling approaches, she mainly draws on Bowen Family Systems Theory to work with clients.

Mr. Chan Shun Chung

Mr. Chan Shun Chung obtained a Master of Arts in Educational Counselling from the Department of Special Education and Counselling, The Education University of Hong Kong. He is a member of the Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association (HKPCA) and possessed the "Painting Psychoanalyst (Intermediate)" professional competency certificate.

Mr. Chan mainly deals with emotional counseling, personal growth, addiction counseling and premarital counseling and marital counseling. He has extensive experience in counseling and obtained from local primary and secondary schools by supporting students and parents with special learning needs, including dyslexia, hyperactivity and autism, and with the family as the core, counseling on marriage and parent-child relationship.

He has dealt with different types of mental health cases, including depression, depression, anxiety and panic disorder. He also organized emotional therapy groups and lectures for parents and teachers.

Mr. Chan expects to examine the different aspects of his life with the recipients by looking for different possibilities, to believe that he is "worthy of being loved" and to lay the foundation for building a positive life attitude and self-healing ability.

In the early stage of his career, Jacky worked in Hong Kong mainstream primary schools, helping students with dyslexia, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, leading different types of therapeutic groups and delivering talks for parents. He also has extensive experience in counselling, career counselling and training.

Jacky is particularly interested in areas relating to mental health, personal development, personality psychology and psychology of the sexes. He hopes to walk with individuals through their challenges and witness their growth along the journey.
